Hout Bay is an excellent centre to tour the Cape Town region and Amblewood is a delightful place to stay. We had a lovely large room on the ground floor, excellent breakfasts on the patio with what must be one of the best views in town, and very helpful and knowledgable hosts. We actually invited them to stay with us in Scotland if they are ever in the UK! DO NOTE that there is a circular bus service into Cape Town from the harbour, which travels back past the Table mountain gondola, so you can manage without a car until you want to travel further - we hired one on the first day and wished we had waited until day four. There are good places to eat at the harbour and some very good local restaurants. Hout Bay is at the start of the stunning Chapman Peak drive and a perfect spot from which to visit the Cape of Good Hope.
