We stayed seven nights which is quite long for a b and b but in the end we were sad to leave. Trev and June were superb hosts, always going out of their way to help and they create a relaxed vibe for the place. We stayed upstairs which I would recommend, the rooms are excellent and have a superb view. Haut bay is an excellent base to explore cape town and surrounds and has plenty of good restaurants. Would have no hesitation in staying at amplewood on next visit to cape town

We stayed for 3 nights in January 2012. This was our second visit to Amblewood (previously stayed in 2005) & as our first stay I could not find fault at all. From the moment we pulled up to the property until we left, Trevor & June (owners) were the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they are extremely welcoming and freindly & are willing to give any advice they can on the surrounding area, from giving directions to recommending restaurants & places to visit. All of the rooms there are spacious, kept spotlesly clean and have a wonderful view over Hout Bay. The breakfasts are plentiful with a wide choice & the cooked breakfast is delicious, with very good quality ingredients. Overall our visit was very relaxing and provided very good value for money. I would have no hesitation in recommending amblewood to anyone & will definately be back on our next trip to Cape Town.
(PS - visit the Chapmans Peak Hotel for their Portugese steak & Calamari combo - Divine!!)

Great place to start a 3 week trip in Western Cape.
Its close to the airport which is great after a long flight, and easy to find.
Trevor and June are great hosts.
Location is superb, on the hillside overlooking Hout Bay, very quiet and relaxing.
Hopefully may see you again at the end of 2012!

We spents here 10 nights and explored Cape Town and the whole area from here. Even Hout Bay is very nice with very good restaurants. The guest house is very nice, perfectly situated up on the hills, with a magnificiant view of Hout Bay. It is a very calm place and Trevor and June are very-very nice people, really give you a perfect service.
Rooms are very nice, have enough space, cleaned every day.
Very good place to be! :o)

What a fabulous place; we stayed 6 nights and I highly recommend it for touring the cape and surrounds. the rooms are beautiful with a small balcony/terrace and fantastic views accross Hout Bay, a fridge, tea/coffee facilites, excellent bathrooms, delightful breakfast area, deck and pool. Faultless place and service, very hospitable and friendly hosts who at the same time give you space, very good breakfasts, could imagine staying anywhere else and we found it by accident on trip advisor. we were delighted with our stay.

Room Tip: all rooms are lovely - there are only 5/6 - maybe 3 upstairs with terrace/balcony - downstairs open onto deck
